Lewiston & Auburn combined make up the second largest metropolitan center in Maine. Separated by the Androscoggin River, Lewiston/Auburn has been going through an ambitious revitalization plan attracting new business.
The twin cities are home to world-class healthcare facilities and with assets such as an airport, rail service and turnpike access has attracted businesses in manufacturing, technology, telecommunications and financial institutions.
Many colleges also call Lewiston/Auburn home such as Kaplan University, University of Southern Maine's Lewiston/Auburn College, Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing, andnationally recognized Bates College.
Called "the heart of Maine", the County of Androscoggin is located less than an hour from the Portland area and Augusta, as well as the coast and the mountains. It's central location makes it a popular location for many festivals and events throughout the year. Androscoggin County is also home to many historical and interesting attractions.
Cumberland County is the most populated county of Maine. As well as being home to Sebago Lake, the 2nd largest body of water in Maine, Cumberland county is considered the economic & industrial center of the state. Major companies such as Fairchild Semiconductor, IDEXX Laboratories & Unum have their headquarters located in the county.
Kennebec County is home of Augusta, the capital of Maine. The county is home to many lakes & rivers including the Kennebec River as well as being a hub of business for the state of Maine boasting the Libby Hill Business Park.
Sagadahoc County is located on the lower portions of the Kennebec and Androscoggin Rivers and is the smallest county in Maine. "Sagadahoc" means "mouth of big river".
Oxford County is said to have the "finest view in Maine". With many lakes & ponds as well as several mountains including Streaked Mountain, there is no shortage of beauty in this Maine county.
