and buyers are buying!  Inventory in Maine is lower than we have seen it in years!  In Androscoggin County there is about 6 months of residential property on the market.  Just 6 months ago there was 8 months of inventory on the market.  In Cumberland County there is less than 4 months on inventory on the market.  6 months ago there was 6 months of inventory.  With inventory low, buyers will be competing to get the property available.  That could mean multiple offers and a better price for your home!

1.  Clear The Clutter
Winter in Maine brings a special kind of clutter...both inside and outside.  Inside declutter the boots, mittens, hats, and winter gear that gathers over the winter months.  Outside put away the shovels, ice melt, sleds, skis, etc. that might be lying around.

2.  Let In The Light
Clean the windows and the curtains or blinds and open them up to let in the light.  The days are starting to get longer...use it to your advantage!

3.  Add Some Color
Using towels, linens, and throw pillows in bright spring colors can add life and interest to a room.  Impress the buyers with just a few well-chosen colorful accessories.

4.  Sniff It
Let's face it...our houses are closed up all winter and can start smelling stale. In the living room adding a throw, pillows or sprucing up your mantle can make a big difference in the mood of the room.  Buyers should feel at home.  Instead of making the room too personal, try making it look comfortable.  Make the buyer feel like they could just move right in! 

4. Smells like Fall
Warm apple cider, pumpkin pie, cinnamon rolls...don't you love the smells of fall?  Your buyers probably do also.  Try baking a pie, warming some cider, or lighting a scented candle before your showings.  Just don't go overboard.  You don't want your home to smell like a candle shop...just a hint of one of the wonderful scents of fall can help make things homier.
